Highlighting the work of Spartans and City in the Community

17th August 2020

IICF UK is celebrating 5 years of impact! Each month, IICF UK will be highlighting one of our grant recipients and sharing information on their work. Together, we can make a difference!

This August, we are celebrating the Spartans Community Football Academy (Spartans) and City in the Community in Manchester (CITC).

Spartans is a sports-based social enterprise and has been working with the local community and their partners to deliver programmes and initiatives that have a lasting positive social impact in North Edinburgh.

CITC uses the ‘football effect’ to promote health, confidence, safe spaces and pathways into training and jobs for young people, working with 40,000 individuals in Greater Manchester each year.

In 2019, IICF UK was able to help 58 young people gain academic qualifications and employment at Spartans, delivering positive impact through the power of sport. The IICF UK’s grant to CITC enabled 36 young people to be able to play in disability football leagues, harnessing ‘the football effect’ to create pathways into training and jobs. The grants to both Spartans and CITC have helped at risk kids through the power of sport!
