21st November 2018

London – November 21, 2018 – The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), a unique non-profit that helps communities and enriches lives by uniting the Industry in grants, volunteer service and leadership, today announced the success of its 2018 UK Week of Giving, with a total of 500 hours donated to charitable projects throughout the UK.

IICF Week of Giving, held this year between October 13-20, empowers the insurance industry to take a leadership role in community service through a dedicated week of volunteer projects in the USA and UK. Globally, 10, 9991 individuals volunteered, either as part of a team or by joining volunteers from other companies, making it the largest ongoing volunteer initiative in the industry.

During this year’s Week of Giving in the UK, 204 volunteers representing a broad range of companies from within the insurance industry contributed 500 hours of volunteer service. Cities offering volunteering projects this year grew to include London, Brighton, Manchester and Glasgow, allowing industry volunteers to give back to the communities where they live and work while supporting charities providing vital services at the local level.

Across these cities, a total of 16 non-profits were supported across 23 different projects. These projects included employability workshops for The Girls Network and Key4Life, hosted by Chubb and KPMG respectively, sorting clothes or running clothes drives for charities including Whitechapel Mission, Smart Works and Suited & Booted as well as helping out at Hackney City Farm.

Stephen Bryans, Partner at KPMG, said: “KPMG considers its collaboration with IICF to be an important part of its overall corporate responsibility agenda.  We have common objectives around the importance of improved social mobility and are committed to working together to achieve these objectives drawing on KPMG’s and IICF’s investment in the insurance community.”

Wendy Wilder, Head of IICF UK, further added: “It’s been incredibly encouraging to see a growing number of industry volunteers across all career stages, donating their time for worthwhile causes.”
